Thursday’s trade on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) ended with a turnover of more than BGN 1 million, where half came over the counter.
More than half of the volume traded on the regulated market came from drug makers Unipharm and Sopharma as well as Eurocapital Bitex, all of which suffered drops in share prices.
Real estate investment trust (REIT) InterCapital Property Development again ignited investor interest following its listing on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) last week. Shares worth BGN 1.8 million changed hands on Wednesday on the over-the-counter market, slumping to BGN 370,000 on the fourth session of the week.
Sofia Commerce-Pawn Brokerage, Bulgaria's largest pawnbroker's chain, also joined the club of the standouts, trading shares worth BGN 180,000.
The sector index BGREIT was the only one to move into positive territory on Thursday. SOFIX of the blue chips, which has been bouncing up and down after the end-July rally, shed 0.73% to 392.39 points. The biggest drag on the index was resort operator Albena, which dipped 4%, but also industrial conglomerate Chimimport, which tumbled 2.41%. As a result, the index continues to hover slightly above 391 points.
The broader BG40 finished just over 0.5% at 111.97 points.
