Japanese consumer electronics maker Toshiba Corp plans to invest funds in the construction of a solar park near the city of Yambol, southeastern Bulgaria, the company said as quoted by AFP on Friday, but declined to reveal the planned investment.

Bulgaria's property market saw a nearly twofold decline in real estate sales compared with the record-high number of deals registered in 2007, according to data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) and the Registry Agency.
During the period, property prices lost a third from their peak value in 2007 and fewer building permits were issued. According to local real estate brokers, the trend is likely to persist throughout the first half of 2011. |

Bulgaria expects to finalise the privatisation of tobacco group Bulgartabac Holding and its remaining stakes in local electricity distribution companies by the end of the year, finance minister Simeon Djankov said.

The reduction of the administrative burden over the companies has crucial importance for increasing their competitive power. The latest legislative developments in Bulgaria aim to introduce changes in that direction, as well as to harmonize the legislative acts with the EU legislation. The amendments in the Commercial Act effective from the end of the previous year include significant facilitations for companies in several cases, like mergers, spin-off and splitting.
