Bulgaria is a zone of stability in the Balkans and Southeastern Europe, according to President the 65th Session of the UN General Assembly, Joseph Deiss.

Deiss has made the statement during his meeting with Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and praised the Bulgarian cabinet for the effort and the will do democratize the country and the region.

Borisov met with Deiss as part of his one-week working visit in the US to participate in the UN Session.

The two discussed the successes of the Bulgarian cabinet in the fight against corruption and organized crime. The UN Session's President spoke about his impressions from Bulgaria from the time he was Finance and Economy Minister of Switzerland. Borisov expressed gratitude for the funds granted by Switzerland to Bulgaria for priority projects as well as for the UN policy of stability on the Balkans and of solving regional issues.

Borisov and Deiss further talked about the effects of the overall global economic crisis and on Bulgaria in particular.

"The cabinet is making everything possible for the economic recovery and growth. Bulgaria is an island of calm, of political, financial, ethnic and religious stability," Borisov is quoted saying.

The two also discussed the UN Session and the messages to be sent by its participants.
